The film is about Cherish a young Eritrean girl on the brink of adulthood who is still full of dreams and inhibitions. When her life gets turned upside down by the sudden arrival of her father whom she has never meet before. Having been raised by her mother alone in London and reluctant to accept her father, who has just returned from the never-ending Eritrean civil-war, she feels the need to discover more about him. After a cold start, a genuine affection builds up. Cherish still blames him for abandoning her and her mother, but understands life is all about facing difficult, sometimes impossible choices. The feeling of huge deception is overwhelming when she realises her father has already remade his life with another woman. Confused and disillusioned she turns to her boyfriend, Maurice for comfort and in doing so she finds herself looking at things in a new light.
